We invite participants to explore thematic exhibitions and interactive activities prepared by our partners.
The DMF Exhibition Space is located on the second floor and will be open throughout all three days of the Forum.
"Still Present" — A Space of Remembrance
Created by the Georgiy Gongadze Prize as part of the REquiem project, specially for Donbas Media Forum. The video was produced together with the team of the Memorial platform.
This space is dedicated to media workers who have been killed during the war. It is neither an exhibition nor a separate event, but a place for quiet, personal remembrance. Through video, light, and personal memories, the space brings back the people we have lost — their names, their stories, and their presence in the lives of others. At the center of the space, a video tells the stories of 18 journalists who were killed while carrying out their professional duties. A separate element is a light installation dedicated to the 146 media workers whose lives have been taken by the war since 2014: while on duty, in the shelling of civilian cities, or in military service. An interactive remembrance area invites visitors to recall their own loved ones, friends, and colleagues who are no longer with us, and to leave a short personal memory.
"Still Present" is about memory that allows people to remain with us even after death.
Photo Exhibition “In The Embrace of Strength”
Organized by “Citizen Charity Foundation” with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation
Social and cultural photography project about Ukrainian veterans who have sustained severe war injuries and the families standing beside them. Through photographs and personal stories, the exhibition presents veterans not only as defenders and heroes, but also as loving fathers, husbands, sons and friends who continue their journey of recovery and return to active life. At the heart of the project are families who face the consequences of war together, learn to live in new circumstances and provide essential support to their loved ones. Their embraces become a symbol of love, support, resilience and hope.
The exhibition also has a charitable purpose: to raise awareness of the long-term recovery needs of severely injured Ukrainian veterans and to raise funds for their rehabilitation.
Exhibition “Civilians in Captivity: Stories of Unjust Detention”
Organized by The Media Initiative for Human Rights
Russia unlawfully holds thousands of civilians it has abducted from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. Journalists, medics, activists, volunteers, and local officials have spent years in Russian prisons simply because they refused to accept the concept of the "Russian world." Behind bars, they are brutally tortured, forced to confess to crimes they never committed. Russia keeps them in inhumane conditions, without contact with their families or access to medical care. As of May of 2026, the Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR) has identified 2,614 civilians deprived of their freedom by Russia. This figure includes only confirmed cases; the true number remains unknown. At least 112 Ukrainian civilians are known to have died during or after their abduction, or while in captivity. Unlike prisoners of war, civilians have no official mechanism for release, as under international humanitarian law, Russia has no right to detain them. Their fate now depends entirely on political decisions and international pressure. This exhibition aims to give a voice to those who Russia forces into silence. As part of our global advocacy campaign, Release Hostages: A Demand for Freedom, Ukrainian artist Anna Movenko has created portraits of unlawfully detained civilians to ensure their stories reach the world.
Photo Exhibition "Between Explosions"
Organized by the media group “Nakipelo” with the support of the Brotherhood Society “Kharkiv — Nuremberg” and the cultural-educational center “House of Nuremberg”
An exhibition about Kharkiv, a city that LIVES in the intervals between strikes. These photographs are not about destruction. They are about those who rescue. About those who live. About our Kharkiv — between explosions. The photographs were taken by Ihor Leptuha and Pavlo Pakhomenko, photographers at Nakypilo media.
Photo Exhibition “SUMY REGION: PARALLELS. One region. Two realities”
Organized by Kordon.Media with the support of the European Union and the German Marshall Fund of the United States Transatlantic Foundation
We tell the story of the Sumy region to the world. And the world often sees our region through the lens of war — through shelling, destruction, fires, evacuations, and the deaths we document. But despite the war, people in the Sumy region continue to live here. They work, teach and study, start businesses, fall in love, and have children. Life and war exist side by side here. That is what we wanted to show through 24 pairs of photographs.
There is also an important story behind the stands holding this exhibition. They survived a missile strike on the Congress Center at Sumy State University. On April 13, 2025 — Palm Sunday — Russian missiles killed 35 people and injured more than 100 others. The stands were pulled from the rubble and the ashes. Today, they carry photographs about pain and joy, about war and everyday life. Despite everything, the Sumy region remains a place where people want to live, love, and dream. This exhibition is about two realities existing side by side.
